Hello 2018! I know, my resolution list is way late, as it’s already the 9th of January! But I finally have a laptop and a quiet room to peacefully work in, as I just got back from a four week vacation all over the place. I’m technically still on my vacation because I’m currently in Germany, but I’m leaving tomorrow and as part of my resolutions list, I’d like to be productive with my blog wherever and whenever! Below is my 2018 resolutions (in no particular order) that I have set for myself, and they have changed quite a bit from previous years, because I am constantly changing and reevaluating what should be important. I know that you don’t need to wait for the new year to change, break, or make new habits. But it lets me reflect on the past year and think about what I could improve on and it’s a good basis for change for me.
- Use up everything that I own – I have a lot of sample beauty products, face masks, forgotten blushes and eyeliners, seaweed snacks, hidden granola bars everywhere that I hoard and I always buy more without thinking about the stuff I already have. I want to live mindfully and also save money by using what I already own to try to make a more environmentally conscious and clutter-free impact on myself.
- Spend more time with Torben – That’s my dog! He’s getting a bit older now and he frequents the couch blanket more than toys and it makes me quite sad. I have always been busy with college and friends and work that I didn’t commit enough time with my dog. He’s very important to me and I want him to feel that way so this year I will definitely take him on more walks, cuddle with him versus browsing Instagram, and spoil him with a lot more love and attention!
- Make exercising a hobby – You probably rolled your eyes, didn’t you? I’m sure the whole ”exercise more” is on everyone’s resolutions, that’s true! I’d always tell myself every year to exercise more as if it’s another mundane task that I don’t like but have to do. But exercising and being active shouldn’t be a chore, it should be an enjoyable task because why would I want to do something I hate waking up early for? That’s why I want to like working out. I could take fun gym classes, run with friends, or even teach my dog squats, and by making it a positive time I would hopefully enjoy being healthy and fit.
- Become a pescatarian – This seems like a weird one, huh? I currently eat anything and everything, but as I’ve learned a lot about the environmental impacts and obviously the moral issues that meat consumption incurs, I want to eventually become a vegan or vegetarian. I’ve tried vegetarianism for a bit- and failed horribly. I know myself better than anyone and I know that I’d have to take things step by step, even if that means I’d still consume fish but not meat. I know that other people have foregone meat overnight, but remember that everyone goes at their own pace.
- Be more curious and outspoken – Unless you’re a close friend or coworker, I am a pretty quiet and reserved person. I’ve been told I have a ”mad” face when actually I’m perfectly fine. I feel that this makes me intimidating or difficult to talk to. But I want to change my ‘introverted’ ways and be louder, inquisitive, and more outwardly me. I don’t want to be afraid to ask questions or talk to the stranger next to me and I want to say hello to everyone I walk past and have an overall outgoing disposition.
- Take better care of myself – This means I want to put more of an effort into making myself look good for the day. I’m not doing this for anyone else’s perceptions of me- it makes me feel good about myself. I’ve noticed that I have a much better day when I feel like my eyeshadow looks bomb, my lips look sexy, my hair is shiny and done, or my outfit is super cute. This also applies to my skincare routine. I want to put more effort into taking care of my skin because I have a lot of acne scars and an uneven complexion so I think it’s important to make my skin feel and look good.
- Spend more quality time with people – I feel like if I’m not working or hanging out with my dog or taking time to take care of myself, I should be spending this time with people I care about. I’m moving to Europe soon, so I’d like to be with friends and family more often because I enjoy their company and would not be seeing them as often when I’m studying.
- Always allow creativity and work transpire – I love blogging, and even though I have not blogged as much as I would like, I want to make this more of a second job (that I’m not getting paid to do) because I love creating content. I want to always pick up a pen and paper and scribble down spontaneous thoughts and ideas and set aside time in my day to work on making my blog better.
What are your resolutions for the year 2018? Please tell!

Wow! Great post, as I was just writing down my own list of resolutions ha-ha 🙂
I also want to manage my possessions better and use up the things I already own before making any new purchases.
Additionally I would like to pick back up on a hobby I had as a child: climbing! Sounds silly – right?
Have a great 2018 xoxo
